For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote to you with many tears; not so that you would be made sorrowful, but that you might know the love which I have especially for you. 2 Corinthians 2:4

Next Retreat: Alumni Heart Lift
May 3 - 6, 2012

Dear faithful AOH family,

The 2012 spring retreat on May 3,4,5 and 6 is going to be somewhat different than our previous retreats. The Lord has led us to do an "alumni" retreat for those who have attended or served as workers at one of our previous retreats. This retreat is for us, and we will not be recruiting any candidates. Also, we will not have male and female speakers as we usually do. Instead, each of us will have an opportunity (about 10 minutes) to share with the group what God has done for us and what he has done for us through the Anguish of Heart ministry. Each person will have to pay their own expenses (the usual $100 team fee), but you will have to bring it up with you to the retreat in cash. That way we will be able to pay the Cane Ridge West fee with a cashier's check at the end of the retreat. This year, the retreat center fees are increasing again. Your team fee will only cover the increase for the lodging. There will be no scholarships for this retreat. We will have a team meeting in each of the usual towns to prepare. Since we are not subsidizing the retreat with fundraisers, each town will have to plan one or more meals, and get the groceries for them. Our Board of Directors will put on the banquet Saturday night. Each of you must apply by the March 16 deadline, so we can see how many are coming in order to plan the meals. The number of spaces is limited, so let us know right away if you plan to come.

We will start on Thursday night as usual, and will do a harp and bowl on Friday morning. The rest of the retreat will be different, and have some nice surprises for each of us. The theme for this retreat is that the Lord wants to give each of us a "heart lift". The Lord showed me that in the same way time, stress, trials, etc. can take a toll on our physical bodies, it also can take a toll on our hearts, spiritually. Our hearts can start to sag along with our faces. Some well to do persons can afford a "face lift" to remove the lines and chins, etc. that result from a long and arduous life. The Lord is inviting all of us to come to Him for a "heart lift" so that he can remove the places where our hearts have started to sag, and give us a new start. Sound good? I thought so, too! We on the Board of Directors believe that Anguish of Heart Ministries is at a crossroads. Some of the time at the retreat will be dedicated to prayer regarding the direction the Lord would have us take. Please start praying for the ministry now in preparation for the retreat. We look forward to seeing you there.

Board President,

Kevin Stewart
